When a migraine hits sometimes it seems like nothing can help and all you want to do is sit helplessly in the dark. If you’re sick and tired of trying every over-the-counter pain reliever out with no real results continue reading below because we have some new tips for you to try!

We have compiled a list of four foods that have been shown to help relieve the pounding and throbbing pain of a migraine more effectively than prescription medication and in a healthier, more natural way.

  1. Nuts: Evidence has shown that those who suffer from migraines have lower magnesium levels than those who don’t. So next time you suffer from a migraine try eating some almonds, cashews, or peanuts to reduce the frequency of migraine attacks by 41%.

  2. Red Meat: Eating all-natural, grass-fed beef can help prevent migraines because it is rich in CoQ10 and vitamin B2. Both of these have been endorsed as migraine-preventers by the American Academy of Neurology and the Canadian Headache SOciety.

  3. Whole Grains: Eating whole grains is often one of the easiest cures. Whole Grains help you stay full longer and keep blood sugar levels stable. By stabilizing your blood sugar you are preventing low blood sugar, which is known to cause migraines and headaches.

  4. Cold-Water Fish: Studies have shown that people who suffer from migraines found that an increase in omega-3s along with a decrease in omega-6s led to fewer headaches per month. Eat cold-water fish such as salmon, herring, halibut, sardines, and tuna in order to increase your omega-3 intake.

Just a warning though: many foods such as caffeine and dairy have been linked to causing migraines, so think before you eat!
