We’ve all experienced the pain from a headache, but did you know there is more than one type of headache? Around 45 million Americans regularly suffer from headaches and while some can be attributed to common causes such as your sinuses, caffeine withdrawal or a migraine, there are more unusual types that you may be experiencing too. Here are two different types you may have and how they could be affecting you:
- Exertion headaches – Often following some type of physical exertion, this type of pain is a result of when you bear down during these activities which leads to spinal fluid pressure in the head increasing briefly. That extra pressure leads to pain, fortunately it usually passes within a few minutes!
- Hypertension headaches – When your blood pressure is extremely high it can lead to hypertension headaches. The elevated pressure in the brain causes blood vessels to be restricting blood flow to the brain and can feel like the very specific pain that comes with wearing a headband. To keep these types of headaches at bay it’s essential to your blood pressure in control.
